Over the years Sandviken Big Band has performed with as well nationally as internationally well known performers, such as for instance Thad Jones, Phil Wilson, Rich Mattesson, Deborah Brown, Bobby Shew, Georgie Fame, Arne Domnerus, Ann-Kristin Hedmark, Cyndee Peters, Alice Babs, Svante Turesson, Roger Pontare, Nils Landgren, Victoria Tolstoy, Ulf Johansson, Claes Jansson and many more.
The present artistic director of the band is Åke Björänge. He started his career in the band as a trumpet player in 1976. Since then he has continously been working with the band as musician, administrator and artistic director.
Håkan Lewin and Johannes Landgren have with their music enjoyed great success both in Europe and the US. The duo, Lewin-Landgren will during the coming years collaborate with many interesting international musicians and ensembles. In 2005 Håkan and Johannes were part of founding the organization: Music Against Voilence
