Music attracted her at an early age, and she played the piano and later also saxophone. However, after exploring different music styles, her interest for jazz and groovy music finally took over and she quit her classical music studies. The urge to sing and improvise was obvious and she decided to become a jazz singer! Studying at the Piteå School of Music, Luleå University and the Sibelius Academy, she received her Masters Degree in 2003. During the years she has been studying with Rigmor Gustafsson, Judy Niemack, Tim Hagans & Norrbotten Big Band and Jukkis Uotila among others. After her graduation in Piteå she decided to move back to Finland and took a post as the vocal pedagogue at the Jazz/Pop Conservatory in Oulu where she also worked with developing the newly started department. In the fall 2005 she moved to Helsinki in order to be able to focus on and develop her own music. She's currently a Master Degree student at the Jazz Dept of the Sibelius Academy. She has performed and worked with Jukkis Uotila, Marc Bernstein, Abdissa Assefa, Hip To Be Band etc. The Emma Larsson Quartet was formed in October 2005 and focuses mainly on Emma's compositions. However, despite the band's name, the unique sound and groove of the band is created by each musician's contributing with his own strong musical identity. The band recorded its first album in January 2006. View Website:
